Johnny Spencer Jr.

Johnny was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 28, 1946 to the late Johnny Spencer Sr. and the Late Alice Winters Spencer.

He confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at Union Mission Baptist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana under the leadership of the late Rev. D.A. Jones. He later united with the Fort Bend Church in Sugar Land, Texas, Rev. Bryon C. Stevenson Pastor.

Johnny was educated in the Caddo Parish School System and graduated from Walnut Hill High School. After High School he attended Southern University Baton Rouge Louisiana and earned his B.A Degree in Liberal Arts in 1972. He also received his Master's Degree in Foods and Nutrition form Texas Southern University, Houston Texas. He was employed with the Houston Independent School District for 30 years, where he was an Administrator in the Food Service Department..

After retirement. Johnny founded JSB & ASSOCIATES Landscape in 1993. The initial concept focused on lawn care and maintenance. Blessed with an eye for creativity, Johnny’s vision for creating outdoor living spaces through an array of landscaping, hardscaping and waterscaping was his true passion. Over the past 32 years, JSB & ASSOCIATES has landscaped residential and commercial sites throughout Harris and Fort Bend Counties. Johnny’s passion, enthusiasm, and dedication for his work has cemented his legacy in the landscaping industry.

On June 17, 1968 he united in holy matrimony with Doris Obee Spencer and to this union three children were born, Derrick, Eric and Cedric.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Spencer Sr. and Alice Winters Spencer.

Grandparents Williams Winters Sr and Estella Winters, Three brothers; Michael Spencer, Ronnie Sumner, Williams Clyde Kemp. One sister Bobbie White.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife of 57 years Doris Obee Spencer.

Three Sons: Derrick Spencer (Elizabeth) Eric Spencer (Maria) Cedric Spencer (Shawntay)

Sisters: Diane Booker (Preston) Joyce Hardy, Janet Hardy – Bennett, Brother Robert Spencer (Sarah)

Brother-in-law: Roderick Obee (Lashree), Sisters In-law Patsy Obee Hamilton, Chinester Spencer and Judy Sumner

Five Grandchildren: Chelsea Spencer, Corey Spencer, Patrick Spencer, Zoe Spencer, Cedric Spencer Jr.

A visitation for Johnny will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM at The Fort Bend Church, 1900 Eldridge Rd., Sugar Land, TX 77478. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 1900 Eldridge Rd., Sugar Land, TX 77478. A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Paradise Cemetery South, 2237 Cullen Blvd, Pearland, Texas 77030. A repass will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 2:30 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company@Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
