With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Katherine “Katie” Elizabeth Bibb on May 18, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas. Born on August 28, 1984, in Houston, Texas, Katie was the beloved daughter of Paul “Buck” Bibb and Patty Ann Bibb.
Katie was a shining light in every room she entered — loyal, compassionate, generous, and blessed with a delightful sense of humor. Her kind spirit and nurturing heart were evident not only in her personal relationships, but also in her professional calling as a nurse. She was a natural caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own.
A graduate of Kingwood High School in 2003, Katie went on to earn her nursing degree from Austin Community College. Her time in Austin became a season of growth, exploration, and lifelong friendships. Katie’s deep empathy extended beyond people; she was also a passionate advocate for animals, and never hesitated to help a creature in need.
Katie found peace and joy by the water — whether fishing, waterskiing, scuba diving, or simply relaxing on a boat. She cherished time spent in Galveston and Florida, especially with her nephews Beckham and Braden. One unforgettable photo op moment on a boat led to her beloved nickname, “Shark Bait,” a testament to her fun-loving nature and love of adventure.
Though her time with us was far too short, Katie’s radiant spirit lives on in the hearts of those privileged to know her. She will be remembered for her warmth, selflessness, and the love she gave so freely.
A celebration of Katie’s life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home, with a reception to follow.
Katie is survived by her loving parents, Buck and Patty Ann Bibb; her sister, Paige Courtney and husband Seth; her cherished nephews, Beckham and Braden Courtney; her aunts and uncles, Virginia Batten, Grace Earl Holland, and Ann and George Pace; and a host of loving cousins, friends, and colleagues.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the mental health professionals who supported Katie, especially Renee Wright, for their compassionate care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katie’s name to the animal rescue organization of your choice — a tribute fitting for someone who gave so much love to all living things.
