KATHLEEN VIRGINIA “PAT” DALTON, age 89, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012. Pat was born on May 8, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa. She got to Texas as soon as she could. Pat led a very “active life” to say the least. She was an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor and a Girl Scout Leader. Pat managed the Neiman Marcus Boutique in the Shamrock Hilton Hotel. She played bridge at every opportunity. After over twenty years working at Neiman’s, she finally took up golf. Pat and husband Don Dalton played in couples’ events at Quail Valley and travelled to play many well-known courses across the United States. She was an active participant in the Quail Valley Women’s Golf Association.
Blessed with creativity, Pat was renowned for her theme-designed golf hats, a new one for every big tournament. She spearheaded the needlepoint kneeler project for the sanctuary altar at First United Methodist Church Missouri City.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved hosting hosted holiday parties and laying out her vast and beautiful Santa Claus collection--hundreds of Santas from all over the world.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Don Dalton; mother, Emma Lou Harris; father, Fred Tapping; brother, Vin Tapping; son-in-law, Jim MacNaughton; and daughter-in-law, Terry Dalton.
She leaves behind a loving family: two daughters, Sandy MacNaughton and Patty Bryan; son-in-law, Mike Bryan; son, Mike Dalton; grandsons, Sam MacNaughton and wife Melinda, Michael Dalton and wife Wendy, and Mark Dalton; and great- grandchildren, Luke, Benjamin, Lily, and Jack Henry MacNaughton, and Bailey and Park Dalton.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Teresita Botero, devoted friend and caregiver, the staff of Odyssey Hospice, and friends in the First United Methodist Church family for the loving care and prayers during the last leg of Pat’s journey here on Earth.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2012, at First United Methodist Church Missouri City, 3900 Lexington, Missouri City, Texas 77459.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to First United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
