Mary Jacquelyn Murray, known to all as Jackie, passed away peacefully at the Murray home in Richmond, Texas on August 6, 2025. She was 74 years of age. Jackie was an amazing person who was loved and admired by so many. She was generous, loving, spirited and fearless in both business and her personal life.
Jackie was born at Fort Bragg Hospital in North Carolina on March 3, 1951. She was adventurous during her teen years in the 60’s, traveling by van across the USA. Jackie eventually settled in Houston, Texas where she obtained her real estate license. She went to work at Sam Feldt Co. in 1983, where she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Murray.
With Jackie’s encouragement in 1987, she and Wayne founded Wayne Murray Realtors, Inc. with only $5,000, opening their first office in the living room of their home. Jackie became one of Houston’s top realtors, maintaining that position for over 35 years.
Jackie was a devoted wife to Wayne, her husband of 40 years. She was a loving mother to son Adam Murray, his wife Amanda, and a proud grandmother to AJ, Olivia, and Owen Murray.
Jackie was a wonderful woman who deeply loved her family. She enjoyed Sunday family dinners and traveling the world with her family, visiting Africa four times. Both she and Wayne traveled to over 40 countries.
The thing that she was most grateful for was her relationship with Jesus Christ. True joy came from leading others to the Lord and helping to nurture their growth. She was active in her church community and a member of the Freedom Center Church (Quail Valley).
She also loved and cherished her bible study lunch group and the sweet fellowship of her sisters in Christ.
In Jackie’s free time, she greatly enjoyed watching the Astros play ball. As season ticket holders, Jackie and Wayne loved attending games together.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Wayne Murray; her son, Adam Murray, and his wife, Amanda; and her cherished grandchildren, AJ, Olivia, and Owen Murray. She is also survived by her brother, Rob Thomas, and his wife, Linda, as well as her sister, Cindy Durkin, and her husband, John. Jackie was preceded in death by son, Chance Johnson, mother, Betty Hemus, and stepfather, Solly Hemus.
Her legacy of generosity, faith and kindness will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.
A celebration of her life is to be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 28th of August at The Freedom Center Church, 2303 FM 1092 Rd in Missouri City.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Freedom Center Church or Elijah Rising, two ministries close to Jackie’s heart.
