Mark was an excellent board member of Riceland MHMR which later became Texana Center. He was board chair of Texana Center for several years before retiring from the board. I still remember Mark and his smile. He will be missed.

Mark was so important to NAMI Fort Bend. It was with his guidance and fortitude to establish this affiliate. We cherish his memory each year by awarding a hardworking member the MARK MITCHELL Award for sustained leadership. We will miss him greatly, but his memory will last as well as his efforts to support and speak for those who live with brain disorders. Our prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace.
Most gratefully,
Pat Sumner

Mark was a passionate, brilliant and persistent human being. He never gave up in his cause to improve the lives of persons with mental illness. I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Mark while he served on the MHA Board, the Texana MHMR Board and the NAMI Board. I am honored to have known him and to consider him a friend. His work, his passion, his vision and his heart shall never be forgotten. Mark... your legacy will go on. Rest in peace and thank you for sharing your life with us.
With greatest appreciation for Mark's life to his family,
Dr M Connie Almeida
