Marymargaret Zakrzewski passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2025. She was born on May 12, 1960, at St. John Hospital in Detroit, and grew up in Warren, Michigan. She graduated from Warren Woods High School with the Class of 1978, and later attended Macomb County Community College with a concentration in Psychology and Business before beginning her career in management and finance in Texas.
Marymargaret moved to Sugar Land, Texas, in July 1979 with her parents and immediately began her career as Vault Manager at the sports and entertainment venue, The Summit. She later worked at Vantage Management, during which time she earned her Paralegal certificate. She was then employed as a Paralegal with Butler & Binion, then at First Interstate Bank as Compliance Manager, as the business manager of her sister’s music company, and as an investigator with Bill Elliott Investigations in northwest Houston.
However, Marymargaret’s favorite position was her last, that of Branch Office Administrator with Edward Jones. She often remarked that working in the office of Financial Advisor Ken Alfonso was her “dream job.” It combined her love of Wall Street and money management with her desire to help others. At the time of her passing, she was regarded as a mentor by many branch administrators in the region.
Marymargaret was an avid reader and great fan of mysteries and true crime stories. She enjoyed trips to Lake Charles, Biloxi, and Las Vegas, and had a strong interest in market trends and significant court cases. Her passions also included music, arts & crafts, DIY projects, power tools, and rescuing animals in need.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Zakrzewski, a 25-year member of the Knights of Columbus (St. Basil Council #4204), and her mother, Armandina Gubiotti Zakrzewski. She was also predeceased by her beloved maternal grandparents, Domenico and Floria Iacovo.
Surviving family members include her devoted sister, Kathleen Ann; her maternal aunt, Mickey Iacovo Morgan; and cousins David Morgan, Steven Morgan, Tara Morgan, and Linda (Mark) Techentien, along with their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her precious pets—Ziva, Lola, Spike, and her loyal companion kitty, Joey. Her “work family” at Edward Jones also mourn her loss of their esteemed colleague.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77498. An afternoon reception will follow in the church hall.
Donations in Marymargaret’s memory may be made to K-9 Angels Rescue, Citizens for Animal Protection (CAPS), Houston Pets Alive, HOPE, Corridor Rescue, or to any animal or veterans’ non-profit of your choice.
