Melida Martha Jones
April 30th, 1961 – August 18th, 2022
Melida Martha Jones was born to Basilia Ramirez- DeLeon in Leesburg, Florida, on April 30th, 1961. Shortly thereafter, Melida and her family moved to Kerrville, Texas. There, she attended primary school while being in the care of her revered mother, Basilia Ramirez-DeLeon. She enjoyed a childhood filled with love, including that of her five siblings. Later, Melida would graduate from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas. Melida continued her education at Southwest Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree with honors in marketing. She eventually settled in Houston, Texas, where she began her career in oil and gas, and Ocean Air-Freight Forwarding.
Melida Martha Jones lived a full and beautiful life. She was passionate about the arts; she enjoyed paintings, attending Andrea Bocelli concerts, and was fervent about interior decorating. The arts aside, Melida was a devoted animal lover. She empathized with the plight of dogs in animal shelters and, thus, adopted several disadvantaged dogs over her lifetime.
Melida Martha Ramirez became Melida Martha Jones when she married her loving husband, Turner Matthew Jones, on March 24th, 2012 during a ceremony in San Antonio, Texas. They enjoyed more than 20 years together including a wonderful ten-year marriage. Together with her husband, Melida was an avid traveler. She travelled to many domestic and international destinations including most major cities in the United States, as well as internationally to Mexico and across western Europe many times over. Melida loved flowers, always wanting her home to include intricate flower arrangements. Being a Christian, Melida also had a desire to help her community. She routinely donated to various charities including the Star of Hope mission in Houston, Texas, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Melida had a grateful heart that was exhibited through her generosity.
On August 18th, 2022, Melida Martha Jones, aged 61, peacefully succumbed to a prolonged illness. She was preceded in death by her lovely mother, Basilia Ramirez- DeLeon, as well as her cherished brothers Juan Ramirez and Ricardo Ramirez. Melida is survived by her treasured husband Turner Matthew Jones, her dear brother and sisters, Alfredo Ramirez, Azalea Tennis, and Elsa Falcon, and her numerous nieces and nephews. Melida’s family is stricken with pain and grief from her loss. However, they are comforted by the knowledge that Melida is now in the care of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior. She will be dearly missed until the time we can all meet again.
