Michael Lloyd Harness

Born in Washington, D.C., Mike spent most of his life in the Houston and Sugar Land area, where he built a successful career and a life filled with friendship, adventure, and love. A proud graduate of the University of Texas, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree before beginning a lifelong career in real estate; a field that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and genuine care for people.

Together with his wife, Sherry Miles, and business partner Stephanie Nelson, Mike founded Prime Properties in 2012. Under their leadership, the company became a respected and thriving brokerage known for its integrity, professionalism, and personal service. Before Prime Properties, Mike spent 18 years as a broker with Keller Williams Realty, where he mentored many agents and built lasting friendships. Earlier in his career, he worked alongside his father in the family’s real estate development company, where his love for the business first began.

Mike lived life with curiosity and generosity. He enjoyed coin collecting, scuba diving, and traveling through the Caribbean with Sherry, the love of his life and wife of 38 years. He was also active in the Sugar Land Optimist Club and served as a mentor to multiple startups through the Small Business Administration, sharing his wisdom freely to help others succeed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Miles; his brother, Chris Harness; 13 nieces and nephews; and 23 grand nieces and nephews. Mike will be remembered for his warmth, humor, insight, and his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and the community he loved.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held in early 2026, with details to be shared with family and friends.
