Our beloved sister, Minh Thi Nguyen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the age of 65. Minh was born on August 17, 1953, in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, to Dương Văn Nghị and Nguyễn Thị Nhường. She attended grammar school and high school in Saigon, studied for two years at the University of Saigon, and continued her education in Georgia on a college scholarship. Then our sister generously interrupted her studies to go to work so she could support her brothers and sisters.
Minh was the kindest person. She lived life to the fullest, and family and friends were her passion and delight. She loved caring for her sisters and brothers, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed cooking, trying new foods, exploring the world with family and friends, and traveling to Vietnam, Japan, Peru, Mexico, and across Europe.
Minh was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, was active in the Vietnamese community, and provided hands-on assistance to many Vietnamese refugees, especially those who did not speak English or could not drive. She also supported the Catholic Church, Vietnamese Franciscan Vocations, and Francisco Vocation charities.
Minh is not alone, she now has reunited with her brother Tuấn. Minh is survived by her father, Dương Văn Nghị , her mother, Nguyễn Thị Nhường, her five sisters, Dương Thị Thúy, Dương Mai Tuyết , Dương Minh Nguyệt, Dương Kim Cúc, and Dương Tường Vi, her four brothers, Dương Hữu Thiết, Dương Châu Phương, Dương Hồng Phúc, and Dương Hồng Đức, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Minh at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Memorial donations in memory of Minh may be made to a Go Fund Me account in her honor, from which donations will be made to Minh’s favorite charities.
