The daughter of William and Dollie Cannaday, Muriel was born on September 11, 1946 and grew up in MacAlester, Ok. She grew up with her older brother Frank, older sister Willie, and younger sister Susan.
In 1964, Muriel married the love of her life, Roger, and in 1971 their only child, Jay was born. Upon completion of Roger's honorable service to his country, Roger and Muriel moved to St. Louis, Missouri to begin a new life.
Roger and Muriel were beloved members of the First Baptist Church of St. John in St. Louis, where they passionately served for 50 years. Muriel helped her friends and neighbors in every way possible, including supporting the Seniors, Global Missions and Women's ministries. An avid reader, she was a steadfast volunteer with local school libraries as well as the church's library ministry. Some of her favorite projects were working with the Missouri Baptist Missionary Union and teaching high school members of the church. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and patient servanthood in Christ inspired those around her.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Roger. She is survived by her son Jay, daughter-in-law Quynh-Anh (Tran), and grandson Aiden, whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind many friends including the Stahr and Steinmeyer families. In addition, Muriel is remembered by her extended family, the Nettles' and Lawyer's, and many others who will deeply miss her.
