NANCY COOPER, a resident of Sugar Land for 32 years, went to Heaven on April 19, 2015, where she was welcomed home by her father Marinus Cooper; her beloved niece, Alissa Cooper Schoonmaker; her cousin, Steven Cooper; her grandparents; her aunt and uncle; and many other family members and friends. She leaves to mourn her mother, Johanna Cooper; her dog Sugar; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dr. John Schoonmaker; her niece, Amy Colannino and husband Dennis, their boys, Andrew and Adam; her nephews, Matthew and Daniel Schoonmaker; her cousins, Kenneth, Christopher and Antonya Cooper and their families; her best friend, Marilyn Harkness; her “family” at The Hanover Company; her beloved caregivers, Rebecca and Kenneth; and many other friends.
Nancy, known to her family as Nankey, was born on April 21, 1957, and was a graduate of Tompkins Cortland College. She worked for The Hanover Company for many years and absolutely loved her work and her friends there. Nancy was a Texas Master Gardener, a talented quilter and a world class shopper, particularly at outlet malls. Until she became ill with cancer a year ago, she faithfully attended cooking classes and wine dinners at Sweetwater Country Club where she was a member for many years.
Nancy loved children and passionately supported the work done for them by the Fort Bend Regional Council on Substance Abuse, www.fortbendcouncil.org, and the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, www.fortbendwomenscenter.org. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to celebrate her life consider making a donation to either organization.
A memorial service for Nancy will be conducted at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek in Sugar Land, Texas (Williams Trace Exit), on May 6, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.
