NORMA “Norms” MANLANGIT, née NORMA BAÑEZ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 14, 2020 in Houston, Texas at almost 70 years of age. Norma was born on April 19, 1950 in Manila, Philippines to Manuel Bañez, Sr. and Romualda Temporal. Norma is survived by her husband, Adolfo R. Manlangit, children, Ebba Marie M. Tsinopoulos, and Adolfo B. Manlangit, Jr., grandchildren, Audrey Elyse M. Tsinopoulos, Samantha Skye C. Manlangit, Emma Alexis M. Tsinopoulos, and Andrew Dylan M. Tsinopoulos, siblings, Conrado, Benigno, Jose, Luna Saxena and Manuel Jr., and son-in-law, Adoni Tsinopoulos and daughter-in-law, Lourdes. Norma graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, graduating with honors, Magna Cum Laude, and completed her Masters of Arts in Nursing. In 1973, she married Adolfo Manlangit. She began working as a Faculty Member at the UST College of Nursing in 1971 and continued as a university professor until 1988. As a nursing licensure board examination reviewer, she traveled to several nursing schools all over the Philippines. She was a regular chairperson for faculty events at UST and civic committees at Stella Maris College, her elementary and high school alma mater. She was also an active member of the Parent Teacher Association at Claret School. In Houston, she was an Executive Board member of Bicol USA Houston Chapter, Inc. and served as treasurer and membership committee chairperson. Nationally, she also served as Regional Vice-president and Adviser to the Bikol National Association of America. Vacation travels and visits to relatives in the provinces are some of her favorites. Besides academics, the Cursillo, school glee club, and church volunteering shaped her youth. Attending prayer meetings is one of her weekly priorities. She was excited about class reunions, enjoyed love stories and loved to dance. Due to prevailing social restrictions, there will be no ceremonies nor receptions. Friends and extended family are welcome to watch the limited viewing online on April 4, 2020, Saturday, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, central time. The visitation is at the Settegast-Kopf Co Funeral Home at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land TX 77478.
