PATRICIA B. PIPER, age 57, passed away on February 11, 2013, due to heart failure awaiting a donor heart transplant. She was born September 20, 1955 in Bryan, Texas to Homer and Stella Blackhurst. While earning her Masters Degree in English from Texas A&M University, she met and married Duane Piper. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Melissa Piper and Laura Piper Ericson. Patricia was an active member and officer for multiple organizations, including; Fort Bend Friends and Neighbors and Tri City Women’s Club. She was an avid baseball fan, lover of knowledge, and animal rights advocate.
Patricia was preceded in death and reunited with her parents; sister, Kathleen B. Felps; and many friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband; daughters; son-in-law, William Ericson; her older brother, Steve Blackhurst; multiple nieces and nephews; and her two dogs, Pita and Scarlet.
Patricia will be remembered for her strength, courage, and grace. She touched and inspired the hearts of everyone who met her, including our Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center family.
Funeral Services celebrating Patricia’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, 77077. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org, or to your favorite animal charity.
