Pearl Ada Fisher Miller of Sugar Land Texas passed away peacefully on February 15, 2019 with many angels and some family present. She died at the age of 92 having been born on August 27, 1926 in Camden New Jersey. Her parents were Pearl Esta Redheffer Fisher and Raymond Cattell Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Durben Erie Miller, her brother Raymond and her sister Jean. She is survived by her four children, Durben Erie Miller, Jr. of Picayune Mississippi, Ray William Miller of Kennett Square Pennsylvania, Peggy Jean Miller Arnold of Comfort Texas, and John Robert Miller of Sugar Land Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Pearl graduated from Merchantville high school in Merchantville New Jersey and attended nursing school during WWII. On April 12, 1947 she married Durben Erie Miller a mechanical engineer from University of Arkansas and a decommissioned officer of the Navy having served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. During WWII Pearl had joined a Pen Pal club and wrote letters to service men. Durben, one of the service men who received letters from Pearl looked her up after the war and asked her to marry him. They remained married until his passing on May 12, 2018 after a total of 71 years and one month. Pearl was a loyal and ever faithful wife to Durben Miller. She supported his career in the early years by participating in Gulf Oil bowling leagues with other employees and their wives. She reared the kids on her own when her husband was traveling for business and shared the household duties upon his return. Pearl loved to hear birds sing. She loved the flowers and trees blooming in the spring. She loved the Church and reading books including the Bible. She loved painting and sketching and was very good at it. She enjoyed doing for her family’s needs and put them ahead of her own.
There will be a memorial ceremony at Christ United Methodist Church on Friday March 1st, 2019 led by Pastor Michelle Hall beginning at 4 pm followed by a reception. Mrs. Miller will have an internment service at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston Texas where she will be laid to rest along side her life long love Durben Erie Miller.
