Pete Briones Valdez Jr. passed away peacefully in Tyler, Tx on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 90. Pete was born on June 20, 1927 in Manor, Tx to Pete and Marie. He is preceded in death by wives Guadalupe Valdez and Magdalina “Dal” Valdez, son Jesse Valdez, and sisters Susan Banda and Esther Galindo. Pete is survived by son Pete Valdez III and daughter-in-law Cheryl Valdez, daughter Lucille “Lucy” Valdez and son-in-law Marc DeGenaro, stepdaughter Vangie Martinez, granddaughter Alixandria “Alix” Guadalupe Valdez, grandson Pete Valdez IV, grandson Niko DeGenaro, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Pete went to vocational school for body fender and welding for 2 years. He served in the Air Force from 9/17/1945-11/22/1946 and then served in the Navy from 5/4/1950-9/3/1952. His Navy service was on USS Mount McKinley. Pete began working for the US Postal Service in 1962 and retired after 30 years. He enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, gardening, and more fishing. He was a father figure, or “Daddy”, to many. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday April 30th at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek in Sugar Land, Tx on 15015 Southwest Fwy. Funeral services will the held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City, Tx on 1510 5th St on May 1st at 10:30 am.
