Ricardo Espiritu Quiam, known to his close friends and family as “Ding” or “Rick,” entered eternal rest on December 1, 2025 in Sugar Land, Texas, at the age of 73. Born on May 8, 1952 in Parañaque, Philippines to Potenciano and Lagrimas Quiam, Rick grew up in a loving home with his five siblings: Albino, Teresita, Potenciano Jr., Nelly, and Erlinda. He spent his youth in Parañaque, where he attended St. Joseph High School.
He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Lyceum of the Philippines College. During this time, he met Rhodora. Their bond grew over time, and years later they married and built a life together. Their first joy came with the arrival of their daughter, Rickett.
In 1976, Rick left the Philippines to seek new opportunities in the United States, working at a manufacturing company in New Jersey.
In 1979, eager to explore new and better paths, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he began a career at Texas Commerce Bank/Chase Bank. Rhodora and Rickett joined him in Houston, where they continued building their lives. Not long after, their family grew with the birth of their second daughter, Rachel.
Years later, Rick began working at Sourcenet Solutions/BNY Mellon/Cognizant. He served there faithfully and with great dedication until the end, earning the respect and appreciation of his colleagues.
Rick devoted much of his free time to serving his community. For more than two decades, he proudly served as the Chairman of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila. His leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact on the organization and on the many people who came to know him through his service.
While Rick accomplished much, his heart always belonged to his family and friends. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, especially his grandchildren. He loved dancing, going on cruises, and offering help to anyone who needed it. Rick had a way of making people feel cared for—never too busy, never too tired, always ready to give.
Rick’s life was a blessing—filled with compassion, joy, and love. The warmth he shared will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. His memory will be held close forever.
He leaves behind his wife, Rhodora Quiam; his children, Rickett Quiam and Rachel Awayan; and his grandchildren: Brandon Salinas, Alexander Stepp, Zoe Stepp, Genefique Moody, Leonidas Moody, Kelsey Awayan, Genevieve Moody, and Kyler Awayan.
Rick is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Potenciano and Lagrimas Quiam, and his siblings, Potenciano Quiam Jr. and Erlinda Quiam.
