Richard Simper

With his family near his bedside, RICHARD ROSS SIMPER, went home to be with his loving Lord and Savior, Sunday, May 2, 2010, after a valiant twenty-four month struggle with colon cancer. He fought the fight as he lived his life with courage, optimism, steely determination, a sense of humor, and never a complaint. Rick was a loving husband and father, who will be remembered for the way that he loved and cared for others unconditionally.

Richard Ross Simper was born to Raymond and Judith Simper in Houston, August 13, 1968. He was raised in Fort Bend County for most of his life. He worked at M D Anderson Cancer Center as a computer programmer, and he especially loved playing video games with his kids and spending time with family and friends. Rick was proud to have served his country as a member of the naval reserves for several years, only stopping due to his illness with cancer.

Rick is survived by his parents; his wife, Cheryl; sons, Clayton and Matthew, and step children, Christopher, Ryan, and Melissa; his stepfather, Lucio Mendez and stepmother, Cynthia Simper; his brother, Ron and his wife Pam; his sister, Debra and her husband Jason and their children Hannah and Nicholas. He also leaves his half-sisters, Jennifer Simper, and Jacqueline Orellano and her husband Will, of Houston. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a host of many good friends.

The family will host a visitation at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, in Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit), on Tuesday evening, May 4, from 7 PM to 9 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 PM. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 2:00 PM, in The Morrow Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek. Interment will follow at Morton Cemetery, in Richmond, TX, followed by a reception at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Sugar Land. Online condolences can be made at www.settegastkopf.com.
