

Robert Brown “Bob” Higgins, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend departed to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2022. The oldest of 3 sons and better known to family as Brown, he was born in Merkel, Texas on September 4, 1943.
Bob graduated from Merkel High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Bob was an avid Longhorn football fan and longtime season ticket holder.
Bob was a Civil Engineer with Smith & Loveless; Turner, Collie & Braden; Montgomery Watson Harza; and AECOM before retiring in 2014. Bob was known by his professional colleagues for his technical ability, work ethic, dedication to his job, and balancing career and family.
After retiring, Bob’s passion was missions and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He went on several mission trips with Living Water International demonstrating the love of God by drilling water wells in El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Haiti in communities without access to clean water. He took mission trips with Sugar Creek Baptist Church to India and Nepal, and was planning to return to India before he got sick. For years, Bob was a fixture on Wednesday nights on Bissonnet Street with a team sharing a bottle of water and the Good News with the less fortunate.
Bob and his wife Linda were members of Sugar Creek Baptist Church for 27 years. He was a long time Sunday School teacher and home group leader, and developed everlasting friendships among their church family at Sugar Creek.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda; his brother Tommy Joe; sons Kerry (wife, Margaret) and Kelly (wife, Lisa); grandsons, Corbin, Jack, Samson and Luke; and granddaughters, Marla, Allabee and Erica. Bob was preceded in death by his parents (Robert and Mabel) and his brother Scotty.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, 13223 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478.
