

ROBERT NEAL McBURNETT, Jr., age 86, passed away July 26, 2015. He was born to Robert and Ruby Lee Hanks McBurnett in Temple, Texas and grew up in San Angelo, Texas. Bob graduated from Texas A&M with a Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation from Texas A&M, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean War. He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves retiring in 1979 having attained the rank of Colonel. Bob’s bonds to Texas A&M and the U. S. Air Force lasted a lifetime. He died fully committed to both of these institutions that molded him into the man he became. In 1953, Bob joined the Accounting Department of Ohio Oil Company in Houston, TX that evolved into Marathon Oil Company, where he retired after 35 years of devoted service.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; and his daughter, Linda. He is survived by his son, Robert McBurnett and his wife Christy of Sugar Land, TX; and grandchildren, Jaclyn Hanks and her husband Chris of Missouri City, TX, and Rob McBurnett of Cleveland, OH.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas 77479.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Texas A&M Former Students Association.
