Roderick Leon Jones, lovingly known as “Rod” to his friends and “Roddie” to his family, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and warmth. Born in California to Catherine and Robert Jones, Rod grew up learning the value of hard work and dedication from a young age—values he carried with him throughout his life.
Rod was married to the love of his life, Linda Mae Jones. Together, they shared a beautiful life built on love, resilience, and family. After facing challenges in starting a family of their own, Rod and Linda opened their hearts to adoption—welcoming their son, Kirk Alan Jones, in 1965, followed by their daughter, Julie Lynn Jones. Their joy was made even greater with the unexpected but much-celebrated birth of their youngest son, Christopher David Jones—a blessing they had long hoped for.
Rod worked for over 25 years with G&G Produce Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and unwavering sense of responsibility. He was a proud provider, always ensuring his family had what they needed—whether it was food on the table, a backyard pool to enjoy, or unforgettable family vacations to Arrowhead Road Resorts and Pismo Beach in the family’s beloved Terry trailer.
He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, especially his Chevy and Barracuda, which he spent countless weekends tinkering with. More than anything, Rod cherished time with his family—watching his children grow, cheering them on in sports and school activities, and creating memories that now live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Robert Jones; his brothers, Robert and Vance; his beloved wives, Linda Mae Jones and later Shirley Aguilar Jones; and his son, Christopher David Jones.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret, of New York;
His children: Kirk Jones, and his son Alekai of Hawaii;
Julie Yeager and her husband Richard (Rick) Yeager, and their three sons—Kameron of Iowa, Joshua of Iowa (and his wife Gina, and their children Ariella and Wyatt), and Jamie of Louisville, Kentucky;
And his daughter-in-law Michelle Jones, widow of the late Christopher David Jones, and their children Ashley of Pennsylvania, Andrew and Emily of Idaho, Melissa of Las Vegas, and Christopher Jr. of California.
Also surviving is Raymond, Michelle’s son from a later relationship, as well as Rod’s extended family of loving grandchildren, four great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
Rod spent his final chapter at Greatwood Assisted Living, where he met and fell in love with Barbara Hudson. Their bond was deep and genuine—they shared meals, laughter, and companionship. Rod’s kindness was evident to everyone who knew him there. He would always cut Barbara’s salad for her, offer her the first plate at every meal, and share his time generously. His sense of humor, gentle spirit, and openness made him beloved by residents and staff alike.
Rod’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched—his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will remember him for his quiet strength, selfless love, and the example he set as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
