She was born to Harry Augustus and Myrtle Booth Hayes on October 25, 1937, the youngest of four children. After graduating from high school, Rosemary attended the Rice Institute, now known as Rice University. At the time, enrollment in Rice Institute was by invitation only based on high academic achievement in high school and completely on scholarship. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She then became a Certified Public Accountant and began practicing public accounting, specifically in the tax and estate planning areas. She was a trailblazer, entering what was at the time a male dominated profession. Rosemary worked in public accounting for 55 years as partner and/or sole-owner of several public accounting practices.
As well as a skilled baker, Rosemary was a very accomplished cross-stitcher and needle pointer. She produced beautiful pieces that she framed and displayed proudly in her home or gave as cherished gifts to friends and family.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Michael Dean Reifel, children Alixe Reifel Knight (Darrell), Mitchell Reifel (Georgette Belair), Ross Reifel (Kelly); her grandchildren, who she loved deeply and doted on, Marshall Chambers (Haley), Daria Reifel, Jackson Reifel, Alexander Reifel, Nicholas Reifel. She is also survived by extended family and an abundance of friends
