

Roy Harold Suttie passed away peacefully on December 21, 2020, at the age of 93. Roy was born October 11, 1927 in Wisconsin. There he spent his boyhood on a dairy farm, attending a one-room school house, and going to church in the nearby small town of Galesville. He lost his father, Donald Suttie, in a work accident when he was 7-years-old. His loving and able mother, Dorothy Schubert Suttie, raised Roy, as well as his older brother Dave and younger sister Mary, to be well-educated, responsible and kind. After serving in the U.S. Army, he attended Milwaukee State Teachers College, majoring in Music. He later moved to Seattle, Washington where he met and married his life-long love, Gloria McGuire Suttie. After moving from Seattle to Texas, they settled in Westminster, Colorado where they raised their three children and lived for 59 years. He was active in his church and led Sing Out Colorado for 6 years. He worked as a printed circuit designer for innovative firms, helping to design the inner workings for a wide variety of technologies, including medical ultra-sound scanners by Johnson & Johnson. He was happily retired for 35 years, pursuing his interests in travel, music, projects, and staying active. Five years ago, Roy and Gloria moved to Stafford, Texas to be closer to family.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his brother Dave Suttie. Roy is survived by his sister, Mary Suttie Terry, who currently resides in Frisco, Texas, and by his wife, Gloria, to whom he has been married for 71 years. He also leaves behind his son, Robert Suttie and his wife Margie of Meadows Place, Texas, his daughter Deborah Pellikan and her husband John of Stafford, Texas, and his daughter Lois Nowels and her husband Richard of San Clemente, California. Roy also leaves behind eight adoring grandchildren, Dayna Pellikan Yildirim, Lindsey Suttie Wilson, Brooke Suttie Springer, Thomas Pellikan, Sarah Nowels, Karen Nowels Draper, Robby Suttie, and Charlie Suttie. He has thirteen great-grandchildren so far: Susannah, Egon, Leo, Damian, Cameryn, Dagny, Tyler, Anthony, Simon, Tillwyn, Rosemary, Clara, and Ogden.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:30 CST in the chapel at the Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek with Rev. Dr. Wayne Braun from Fishers of Men Lutheran Church officiating. This service will be streamed live via the company’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SettegastKopf. He will be interned that afternoon at Veterans Memorial Cemetery following a 1:30 ceremony.
