Ruben Garza, 79, passed away on January 14, 2026. Born on January 21, 1946, in San Juan, Texas, Ruben was the eldest son of Pedro and Manuela Garza. He graduated from Sam Houston State University and earned a degree in Accounting. Ruben will be remembered as a loyal, adventurous, brave, hard-working, thoughtful, and honest man whose life reflected steadfast devotion to family, country, and community.
Ruben served his country as a Green Beret in the United States Army. He later built a distinguished career as a Supervisor at Lyondell Petrochemical Refinery, where his dedication and strong work ethic were evident to all who knew him.
Ruben is survived by his daughter, Marisela Garza; and his siblings, Rosie Peloquin, Richard Peloquin, Johnny Garza, Marie Rayburn, Paul Crane, Pete Garza Jr., Carmen Garza, Lucy Martin, and Angie Cook, as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews who truly loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek on March 9, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM. Please come join the family for fellowship, comfort, and remembrance of Mr. Ruben Garza.
