She played golf and was an avid bridge player. When she could sit still, she loved to read, needlepoint, quilt and play Rummikub. SaRita was an excellent cook and loved to entertain her friends with good food and silly games. She was known as the cat lady of Quail Valley and had 18 cats at one time, when someone dropped two pregnant cats at her side door. She was always adopting strays and finding homes for them. Traveling was another passion: Hawaii, England, Scotland, Alaska, Canada, Cape Cod, Mexico, California, Las Vegas, and cruises. She was very active in clubs and President of many of them. Quail Valley Garden Club, Quail Valley Quails, Fort Bend Republican Women’s Club, Alpha Xi Delta Mother’s Club, Alpha Gamma Delta Alumnae, Gourmet Club, Fort Bend Friends and Neighbors, Tri-Cities, and Fort Bend County Museum Docents were just a few of her many organizations. She enjoyed celebrating birthdays with her Flamingo group and playing Bunco. In 2000 she was honored as Fort Bend Republican Woman of the Year. Alpha Gamma Delta celebrated her sorority commitment with the Arc and the Arc with diamonds. In 2003, SaRita and Stan purchased a second home in Bayou Vista and hosted weekend parties there. SaRita became active in the Salt Water Garden Club and soon became President of that club.
