Sharon McCombs Fontenot of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away at age 80 on Thursday, November 20, 2025 with her immediate family comforting her. Sharon was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on December 1, 1944, to Clifford McCombs and Betty (née Phillips) McCombs. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Larry; her son, Stephen, and his wife, Rachel, of Richardson, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Mark, and his wife, Cindy, of Florida, and two nephews, Clifford and Eric.
Sharon had a wide range of interests and enjoyed reading, movies, puzzles, Jeopardy!, and building genealogical family trees. She had been tracking her family history for more than three decades and corresponded with many people who sought advice and assistance in tracking their ancestors. She was always happy to help others in their searches for family members.
Sharon was a gifted and inquisitive woman who had great empathy for everyone. She shared her knowledge and her caring with all who came to know her. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Sharon chose cremation for her final state and will be interred at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
