Born in Falls Church, VA., Mr. Marut graduated from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, VA. After high school he graduated from George Mason University where he received a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.
After college he moved to McLean, VA, where he met his future wife while working for the Fairfax County Courthouse. In 1985, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Dubiel. Steve and Cindy first settled in McLean, VA, and later moved to Richmond, TX, in 1992. There they raised their two wonderful daughters, Hannah and Leah, and became members at First Colony Church of Christ.
Mr. Marut was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Walter Marut and Janet Darling Marut. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Marut and their children Hannah and Leah; David S. Marut, of San Antonio, TX, and his wife Mary Pat Marut, and their children Jennifer, David, Stephen, and Andrew; and John G. Marut, of Arlington, VA, his wife Janice Marut, and their children William and Camden. He is also survived by a great grandnephew, Landon, and a great grandniece, Madeline.
Steve, was a great asset to his wife and daughters, supporting their endeavors in sports, academics, and every phase of life. Mr. Marut was a special gift to all who knew him. Steve’s laugh was a great part of his personality, and you couldn’t help but laugh along with him! Devotion to family and faith, love of road trips, and his lifelong passion for golf and sport events, as well as his love of Abilene Christian University (Hannah) and Texas Christian University (Leah) will be remembered always. Steve always supported the girls, and their school spirit. Steve’s love for Hannah and Leah could light up a room!
A celebration of Mr. Marut’s life will be June 5th at First Colony Church of Christ, Sugar Land, TX.
