Susan Ellen Hunter

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Ellen Hunter. She was born on May 10th, 1957, in Amityville, New York and died on August 9th, 2026 in Sugar Land, Texas. Susan is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Hunter; her children Kristen Hunter and Jessica (Stephen) Norling; three grandchildren, Ryder, Lillian and Benjamin; and her brothers Peter Scholl and Thomas (JoAnne) Scholl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sylvia Scholl.

Susan was a beloved wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, beautiful memories, and countless lives that were touched by her kindness.

Her greatest joy was her family. As a loving wife of 45 years to Geoff, they shared a life filled with love, companionship, and precious memories. They enjoyed every second of their time together whether it be traveling the country or quiet nights at home watching Wheel of Fortune. What mattered most was being together.

As a mother to Kristen and Jessie, she gave endlessly of herself. She was their constant source of strength, comfort and unconditional love. She made sure the girls had the best childhood possible, acted as a second mom to all their friends, planned family vacations and always volunteered for their school activities. Though she was so much more than just a mother, being a mom was at the very heart of who she was.

Her grandchildren, Ryder, Lilly and Ben, held a special place in her heart. She was a proud grandma who treasured every moment spent with them, watching them grow and spoiling them with the best homemade oatmeal cookies.

Susan had her Master’s degree in Special Education from C.W. Post and worked as a special education teacher on Long Island until the Hunter family relocated to Texas in 2008. She continued her life’s work as a homebound teacher for Lamar Consolidated ISD, extending her compassion and generosity not only to her students but to their families as well.

Sue had a warmth that made everyone feel welcome and cared for. She was loved by everyone who had the privilege of meeting her, and her kindness and humor left an impression that will not be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, her love will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Sue will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
