Verdine Gibson Smith, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away on May 8, 2024, in Sugar Land, Texas. Born on May 3, 1943, in Pioneer, Louisiana, Verdine's life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
Verdine found her calling as a daycare owner, where she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and educating countless children throughout her career. Her warmth and love created a second home for many, leaving a lasting impact on generations to come.
Family was at the center of Verdine's life, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones. Whether it was sharing laughter around the dinner table or embarking on adventures together, she treasured every moment spent with her family.
Known for her generous spirit, Verdine had a heart for helping those in need. She extended a hand of support to anyone facing challenges, offering comfort, guidance, and a listening ear to all who crossed her path.
In her leisure time, Verdine found solace in the beauty of music and the thrill of travel. Whether she was dancing to her favorite tunes or exploring new destinations, she embraced life with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world around her.
Verdine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 17 years, Clifton Smith I, her parents, Frank Sr. and Ruth Gibson, her sister, Ruthie Mae Smith, and her brother, Frank Gibson Jr. Though she leaves behind a profound absence, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Clifton Smith II, and her sister, Janie Mason. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren, Clifton Smith III and Melody Smith, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Verdine also leaves behind nieces Tonya Robles, Keamak Smith, Thelma Smith, and nephews Keyok Smith and Marcus Smith, who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.
