I so loved Vernon's demeanor.  I met him and Shirley in Germany and when I got back to the USA, I spent time with them in the DC area.  I adored them both and wondered why there was no mention of Shirley in his obituary!  May his soul rest in peace.

I cannot think of a more awesome person (along with his beautiful wife Shir) to send a pray for his soul.  I hope he is resting in peace, and I often wonder how Shir is doing.

To Vernon's wife and  family I send my ( very belated)  sympathy.  One of Vernon's friend from Germany (Jerry Osborne) shared the news with me.   We could not reach Shirley to express our sympathy.    Shirley...I so remember how you and Vernon opened your home up to me...not only in Germany but in Washington, DC.   You two were simply wonderful to [have] know and visited with.    Once again, I am so sorry to hear of Vernon death.   May his soul rest in peace. Mr. Grant was one of the dearest men I've ever known.  His kindness, gentleness, and humility were just a few of his many endearing qualities.  I will sorely miss him.

I've had the honor and privilege of knowing Vern for 42 years. The most kind hearted, giving, person you'd ever know. We're going to miss you my friend.

We - from Germany, Munich - are very sad. Vernon will always  be remembered of his noble mind and his generosity.
He was like a father to us.
