Virginia Scroggins Tippit

Virginia Scroggins Tippit, passed away August 16, 2016. Her husband, Jack J. Tippit precedes her in death. They were married 48 years. Virginia was born in Columbus, Kansas and raised in Harrison, Arkansas.

She was employed at The First National Bank of Houston. She helped with the merger of First National and City National to form First City National Bank. She was promoted and elected to Trust Operations Officer and Assistant Cashier in the Trust Division. Virginia was on one of two women elected that had ever become a woman officer in any bank at that time in 1972. She retired in the 70’s. Virginia has been a member of The First United Methodist Church since, 1977. She was an active member of The Human Potential Sunday School Class of that church.

Visitation will be held, Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5:00pm until 6:00pm., followed by the funeral service beginning at 6:00pm, in The Morrow Chapel at The Settegast-Kopf & Co. Funeral Directors, 15015 Southwest Freeway. Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Officiating will be Rev. Henry Milligan. Following the funeral service a reception will be held in the family events room adjacent to the chapel. Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Houston National Cemetery alongside her Air Force husband, Jack. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025.
