Bill Cowart, a retired geophysicist residing in the Houston area, died on Sept. 7, 2018. He was born January 8, 1951 in New Mexico. Bill was an “Aggie” of the New Mexico State variety. His love of New Mexico and the Jemez Mountains never waned.
Bill started in the oil and gas industry working at Western Geophysical in the 1970s and then moved on to Unocal in their Houston office from the 1980s through the 1990s. Subsequently he worked for Eos Energy, Kerr McGee, Penn Virginia, and SM Energy.
While at Unocal, Bill worked on several discoveries such as Pine Island Bayou. He traveled to and worked on exploration projects in Pakistan, Vietnam, and China.
Bill was a long -time resident of Sugar Land and a member of the Shamrock Literary Society.
Bill leaves behind his beloved daughter, Cheryl Cowart; granddaughter, Haley Wrenn; niece Loanna Watkins; and brother, Robert Cowart.
