

He was a native of Lake Charles and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 40 years. Allen worked as a consultant for local industries for many years and it's been said that he was one of the greatest mentors and leaders that you would ever meet. He enjoyed various water activites such as boating and fishing but especially enjoyed family time. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Lyons of Carlyss; his mother, Sara Richard and husband, Harry of Sulphur; step-mother, Virgie Lyons of Lake Charles; two children, Melissa McDaniel and husband, Brandon, and Justin Ray Lyons and wife, Gail, all of Sulphur; his siblings, Mark Lyons and wife, Mary of Vinton, Tracy Wilburn and husband, David of Sulphur, Jack Richard and wife, Vickie of Lake Charles, and Laura Melancon and husband, Paul of Lake Charles; and five grandchildren, Tyler Hatten, Daulton Hatten, Matthew Allain, Emma Rae Lyons, and Audrey Marie Lyons. He is preceded in death by his father, Allen Ray Lyons, Sr; brother, Grady Richard; and grandparents, L.C. and Rose Lyons, and Cleven and Corine Manuel.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Richard will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume from 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
