Sulphur - Alton Ray Holmes, 89, died February 22, 2018 in Ruston Louisiana.
Alton was the owner of Pic'em & Pac'em Convenient Store in Westlake for 22 years. He was in the Navy during WW II and a Golden Gloves Boxer during his time in service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anna Holmes of 57 years from Westlake; three children, Linda Phipps and husband Kenny of Sulphur, Sandra Holmes of Kerrville, Texas, Deborah and husband Roger of Westlake; one sister, Winnie Bountwell of Baton Rouge; fifteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; he is preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Rutland and Naomi Moore; one brother James Holmes.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 26, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur. The Rev. Robert Kratzer will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, February 25 in the funeral home chapel and continue from noon until service time on Monday. Burial will be Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery in Westlake.
