IOWA - Mrs. Annabel "Bel" Venable Cormier, age 89, went to her Eternal Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
Annabel was born on August 29, 1927 in Acadia Parish where she lived most of her young life before moving to Iowa. She lived in Iowa for over 48 years where she raised her family along with her husband, Adam "Blue" Cormier, Sr. "Bel" loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was an extraordinary seamstress, loved to make crafts, working in her flower garden, and was known as a marvelous cook. For the last seven years "Bel" had resided at High Hope Care Center in Sulphur, and recently won a Senior Olympics Wheel Chair Race. She was loved by all and will be missed greatly.
Those left to cherish to her memory are her three children, Norma Cormier Levy and husband, Bill, Adam Cormier, Jr., and Mac Cormier and wife, Angie; four grandchildren, Sam Cormier, Michelle Pousson Nell, Craig Pousson, and Kevin Cormier; seven great-grandchildren, Trent, Tyler, Ethan, Kailey, Oliver, Piper, and Carter; and two sisters, Mary Bordelon and Velma Babineaux.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Cormier, Sr., two grandchildren, Troy Cormier and Jody Cormier, parents, Dozita and Elvina Venable, three brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Celebrant Jody Barrilleaux will lead services. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Sunday morning at 8:30 until time of service all at the funeral home.
