Barbara Oakley

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. She retired as a school teacher from Calcasieu Parish School System. She was passionate about keeping Dutch Cove Cemetery's records, and upkeep of the cemetery. She was secretary of Oakley Ship Yard for over forty-five years. When her children were young she was active in the 4-H organization.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Oakley; four children, Peggy Bell and husband, Michael of Cypress, TX, Maxine Villegas and husband, Amie of Katy, TX, Daniel Oakley and wife, Babbette of Sulphur, and Dovanna Kibodeaux and husband, Ricky of Sulphur; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Oakley, and her parents, John Herbert and Agnes Peshoff Halverson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel with the Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will follow at Dutch Cove Cemetery.
