Bertha M. Waite

As a native of Carlyss, she worked as the cafeteria manager for over 40 years at W.T. Henning and Vincent Settlement Elementary. Her dedication to the teachers and students will always be remembered. Bertha Mae attended Choupique Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time outside taking care of her yard. She loved visiting with friends and family and always had a pot of coffee ready to brew.

Bertha Mae is survived by one son, Jerry Waite of Carlyss; two daughters, Diann Harrington and husband Donald of Carlyss, Brenda Sumpter and husband Dennis R. of Deridder, Louisiana; one daughter in law, Beverly Waite; one sister, Ethaline Potts and husband Charles of Hemphill, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harry Waite; one son, Terry Waite; one brother, Roy Lee Lyons and one sister, Martha Lou Vaussine.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 in the Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur, Louisiana. Rev. Nay Vickers will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 in the funeral home and continue on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss.
