Betty R. Andrus

May 9, 1928October 28, 2012

Betty Riley Andrus, 84, died at 1:24 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2012, in a local care center. Betty lived in Sulphur since 1945, except for several years that she and Bill lived in Vinton. After Bill's death, she made her home in Sulphur. She was a member of Celebration Worship Center. She graduated from Sulphur High School. When she was younger she was involved in Home Demonstration. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking and going to flea markets. Betty loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her friends. Survivors include her son, Billy Andrus and his wife Susan, of Lake Charles; daughter, Sharon Parish and her husband Dale, of Carlyss; sister Marge Whitaker and husband Lowell; niece, Kim Hogue; great niece Erin Hogue; grandchildren, Candice Byrd and her husband John, Brant Parish and his wife Melissa, and Jennifer Vorhies and her husband Philip; and great grandchildren, Chris, Kirsten, Bryce, Bella, Parish, Ryleigh, Gage, Maddie and Annie. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Andrus, grandson Shawn Parish, and parents Walter and Clara Riley. Proverbs 31:28-30 “Her children arise and call her blessed: her husband also, and he praises her. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Truly she is a Proverbs 31 woman. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 1, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Dr. Max Docusen will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until service Thursday, all at the funeral home.
