She was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana and had been a longtime resident of Lake Charles before moving to Sulphur in 1998. She was a member of Houston River Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed playing her piano, crocheting Afghans, playing Mexican train dominoes, and listening to gospel and classic country music.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl McKay and husband, Joe of Arlington, Texas, Claudia Anne Chamberlain and husband, Randy of Charlotte, North Carolina, Candy Fassler and husband, Richard of Lake Charles, and Charles B. “Chuck” Canfield, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Canfield, Sr.; her parents, Clarence and Agnes Louvier; and her siblings, Clarence Louvier, Jr. and Cleo Soileau.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, in Houston River Baptist Church. The Pastor Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the church.
