She was a native of Lake Charles and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. Betty worked for many years alongside her husband, Dee Trahan at Dee’s Studio and later with the Louisiana State Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur. She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, playing Scrabble, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Greg Trahan and wife, Debbie Woods of Sulphur, Sharmyn Trahan Dever and husband, Pete of Friendswood, Texas, and Cyndi Trahan Faust of Sulphur; her daughter-in-law, Janice Miller Trahan of Lake Charles; eleven grandchildren, Tara Davenport, Guy Trahan, Lori Harrell, Mark Karish, Mollie Stopher, Trevor Trahan, Taj Trahan, Kaya Trahan, Blythe Dever, Rylee Dever, and John “Jake” Faust, III; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her son, Terry Trahan, and two brothers.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in Trinity Baptist Church. The Rev. Lamar Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church.
