He was a native and lifelong resident of the Edgerly-Sulphur area. Billy Ray was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He worked as a pipefitter welder and was a member of Local Unions 106, 342, and 798. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Diana Richard Trahan of Sulphur; his children, Billy Ray Trahan, Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Loomis, California, Trisha Renee' Ryder and husband, Troy of Magnolia, Texas, Brant Trahan and wife, Monika of Martinez, California, and Chad Everett Trahan of Orange, Texas; his step-children, Kayla Mouhot of Lake Charles, Daleen Cheramie and husband, Stephen of Grand Lake, Bridgett Aucoin and husband, Allen of Sulphur, and Tina Goodrich and husband, Stuart of Edinburg, Texas; twenty grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Sue Rao and Bobbie Dale Kibodeaux.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 20, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Homes. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
