He was born on November 22, 1941 in Sulphur to Lyman Fleniken and Olga Haven Fleniken. Calvin graduated from Sulphur High School and Louisiana State University and Baton Rouge College of Engineering. He had a long and successful career as a project engineer for several major corporations. Calvin was a talented and gifted artist whose hobbies included drawing, painting, sculpting, and crocheting.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gayle Honea. He is survived by his wife Carol White Fleniken; sons, Shawn Patrick Fleniken of Sulphur, and Steven Blair Fleniken of Augusta, Georgia; a daughter, Heather Kathleen Kubik of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Miranda Fleniken, Kenneth Fleniken, Connor Fleniken, Petra Kubik, Gina Theriot, and Amber Grafe; siblings, Sandra "Sissy" Grigsby of Elkhart, Texas, Roy Fleniken, M.D. of Bossier City, Carol Jones of Rio Hondo, Texas, John Fleniken of Magnolia, Mississippi, and Lyman Fleniken of Clinton; as well as many close and loving friends.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 7 in New Destiny Assembly of God, 4900 Hwy 27 South in Carlyss. The Rev. Phil Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Arnie Kopecky, Justin Theriot, Connor Fleniken, Dave Grice, Shane Fleniken, and Mike Fleniken. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
