Carl was a native of Newton, Texas and lived in Sulphur since 1958. He attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Carl enjoyed collecting antique engines and antique radios.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years Ruth Ann Phelps; daughter Sandra Marie Phelps of Summerville, South Carolina; son Brent Thomas Phelps and his wife Marsha Ann of Sulphur; granddaughter Allison Lomas; and grandsons Christopher Phelps and Jonathan Phelps.
He is preceded in death by his son Ralph Wayne Phelps and parents Walter and Maggie Phelps.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Deacon Patrick Lapoint will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time, all at the funeral home.
