Cecil was born on July 7, 1921 in Johnson Bayou to Ray Bernard and Betty Greene Pevoto. When World War II began, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and became a crew chief on a C47 plane based at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. He proudly served for 4 years. He owned and operated his own water well business with his first wife, Lois. He worked as an oil well consultant for many years and loved to go square dancing. Cecil was what you would call a real cowboy in days of old. As a young man, he herded cattle to and from Johnson Bayou, Hackberry, and Sulphur for his father. He roped, broke horses, and all the things a real cowboy did in those days. He was a very much involved in the Beefmaster Cattle Association and remained involved in the cattle business until 1997. At that time, he and his second wife, Thelma decided to sell out and travel to see some of the world, making many memorable trips together. He served his church, country, and community, and treasured and cared for his beloved wives well. Cecil was a very talented, thoughtful, considerate, caring, and loving person to all.
