Chan was born on February 7, 1929 in Eureka, Kansas. She moved to Sulphur in 1943 where in 1946 she had a blind date and met her husband, Bob. They were married for a blessed 62 years before he passed in 2010. Her spirit is carried on by 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
It’s no surprise that Mom felt her most important job in life was to be an amazing Mom and Granny. She was always involved with everything such as being a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years, making uniforms for drill teams and flag corps, making costumes among many other duties for boy scouts, school projects, and being a beautiful seamstress for any occasion we needed. The kids always loved to go visit Granny for those fun snacks, Granny’s famous coffee milk, fun yet competitive games – no one ever got to “win” – you had to earn it, and of course the never-ending abundance of love, hugs and kisses. She didn’t think the city of Beaumont had enough space for all of her family so they moved to the farm in Buna in 1973. Many fun things happened there with Granny like feeding the orphaned calf (Thunder) milk out of a giant bottle, helping in her giant garden and then canning all the produce from it, keeping up with all the dogs and cats, watching her ride the mini bike, making shapes out of clouds and helping her cook dinner or bake cookies – man could she cook! In 1985 she and Bob went into business together and bought Rockwood Tractor in Vidor where they made numerous great friends before they retired and moved to Sulphur in 2007 so they could relax and enjoy their large family. You could always drop by unannounced to enjoy a good cup of coffee (there was ALWAYS coffee!).
Chan knew the Lord and called on Him regularly as a prayer warring woman of God would. As the years went by her faith only grew stronger and stronger. She relied heavily on this faith and knew a large part of her assignment on this side of the kingdom was to instill that in all of her children. We most certainly know Him today because of her love and faithfulness in Him….and because we witnessed this in her walk all our lives. We also know she is whole and safely with Him in His kingdom today hearing the words “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
Chan now rests in Heaven with her loving husband, Richard Robert “Bob” Hudson; daughter, Lorraine Chandis Rugg; brother, Norman Thomas; sister, Doreen Kytle and daughter-in-law Linda Jean Hudson.

In lieu of flowers a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be a great tribute to Chan, as she was an ardent supporter of this organization for many years.
