Charlotte was a native of Sulphur and lived in Baton Rouge for 5 years. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, where she had been a lay minister. She had been active with the Krew De la famille and The Buccaneers. Charlotte graduated from Sulphur High School in 1953 and from The University of Houston in 1957. She was a teacher with the Calcasieu Parish School System for 20 years.
Survivors include her son Dr. Scott Landry of Baton Rouge; daughter Dr. Dena Landry and her husband Mark Stillwagon of Naples, Florida; brother Jim Hughes and his wife JoAnn of Sulphur; 2 grandchildren, Caroline and Meredith Landry; nieces, Jane Hughes Mayon and her husband Mike of Sulphur, and Julie Hughes Landry of Sulphur; great niece Taylor Rochelle of Sulphur; and great nephew Brock Landry of Sulphur.
She is preceded in death by her husband Nolan F. Landry; and parents Mr. and Mrs. S.O. Hughes.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Generations Hospice of Baton Rouge.
