Dave graduated from Landry High School and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from McNeese State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
From a previous marriage, Dave adopted two children, Stacia and Kyle. Though the marriage ended in 1986, his love and commitment to his children remained steadfast.
Throughout his long and industrious career, Dave held many jobs and owned several businesses, most notably in construction. He built apartment complexes in the Houston and Lake Charles areas, as well as numerous homes and metal buildings across Louisiana. He took great pride in his work and the lasting impact of the structures he created.
Dave loved to sketch & grow a garden. He also had a special gift for encouragement. He was known for uplifting words such as, “You can do it—you have the ability,” a reflection of his deep belief in the potential of others.
He met the love of his life, Denise, at a Catholic Charismatic Conference—meeting her parents the very first day. They were married in 1993 and went on to share 33 wonderful years together. He enjoyed gardening, sketching, but most of all he enjoyed planning trips and traveling the world while forming lifelong friendships along the way.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Darbonne Trahan; his daughter, Stacia Taylor, and her children, Kristin Edwards (Chase), Olivia Taylor, and Emma Taylor; his son, Kyle Trahan; Denise’s sons Cody Tremie (Missy) and his son Gavin Tremie; and Chad Tremie (Maxie) and his children Christopher Tremie (Madeline) and their children Delilah, Archer, and Billie Rose; Addy Tremie, Kate Tremie, her sons Brennan Taylor, and Matthew Taylor (Jacie). He is also survived by his siblings Alto Trahan (Jennifer) of El Paso, Tx; Michael Trahan (Wendy) of Huntsville, TX; Maria Trahan of Houston, Tx: and Cindy Trahan of Houston, Tx.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dave & Edbruel Trahan; & his daughter-in-law, Sara Trahan.
