He was born on January 6, 1940 in Rosepine, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1972.
Delbert was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles for 25 years where he served as an usher and a volunteer with the Young At Heart group for many years, and had previously been a member and served as a Deacon for 17 years at Southside Assembly of God in Sulphur. He retired from Frito Lay after 34 years of service. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Isaacs Buell of Sulphur; his daughters, Sheila Buell Hasha and husband, Thomas "T.J." of Westlake, and Laura Buell Friesner and husband, Jim of Sulphur; his brothers, Raymond Buell of DeRidder, and James Buell and Jerry Buell and wife, Sue, all of Rosepine; his sister-in-law, Harriett Buell of Riverside, Texas; four grandchildren, Michael Nevils and wife, Taylor, Danielle Ryan Voros and husband, Vincent, Cameron Nevils and wife, Courtney, and Jared Hasha; seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Gabriel, Gunner, Lincoln, Liam, Owen, and Joseph; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Buell; his father and mother-in-law, Howard and Grace Isaacs; and his siblings, Herbert Buell, Warren Lee Buell, Wilma Richmond, Betty Williamson, and Shirley Strong.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Revs. Paul Burke, Gary Evers, Dennis Bjornberg, and James Williamson will officiate. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosepine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Nevils, Cameron Nevils, Jared Hasha, Vincent Voros, B.J. Bjornberg, and Eddie Rafferty. Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Hester. The family will have a fellowship following the graveside service at the Catfish Hut on Hwy 171 in DeRidder.
