Donald was a native of Longview, Texas, and lived in Sulphur since 1945. He attended the First Baptist Church of Sulphur where, in his younger days, he worked in the Nursery. He loved fishing. Donald was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, Mavis Westbrook Lovitt; son, Robert Owen Lovitt and his wife Laura Lyle, of Houston; daughter, Cherry Lee Lovitt Ellas and her husband John W., of Houston; grandchildren Katrina, Tearsa, Carrie, Jonathan, Kathy, Roger and Ruby; and great grandchildren Rhea, Nevannah, Tyce, Adrian, Jade and Alessandra.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Darlene McCarty.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. The Rev. David Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery south in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from Noon until 2 p.m. Monday, all in the funeral home.
