Edith "Edie" Clare Bridges Lucas Louviere, 76, of Sulphur, passed away on May 13, 2021, after a long fight with many chronic illnesses. Edie was born on October, 23, 1944, to Archie "Click" Cleveland and Edith Cobb Bridges in Hornbeck, LA.
After graduating from Leesville High School in 1962, she set out on the path God intended for her… From 1966 and on, she dedicated her entire life to raising and loving her three boys, by herself. She would often work 3 to 4 jobs, day or night, to make sure her boys were taken care of. While they didn’t live luxuriously they always had what they needed. She made sure her boys were always involved in many extracurriculars, and although they lived on her wages alone, she never missed a game. Her fighting spirit, wildfire energy, quick wit, and perpetual perseverance helped her raise her boys to live the lives she always wanted for them. She was a proud woman: proud of raising her boys to be successful in all they did, proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments, mostly proud that each of her children has a personal relationship with Jesus. They all worked their way through college, have successful jobs and happy families, and are cherished by the people around them. She will be greatly missed, but we find comfort knowing that she can rest without pain in our Father’s arms and on her mother’s lap.
In 1986, another journey began and she married Lee Louviere, and accepted the role to mentor and love Lee's four children, Dana, Terri, Troy and Paulette. Together, they took on life’s challenges. In their time together, they enjoyed playing cards, drinking coffee, taking walks, taking cruises, fishing, taking old western pictures, and watching the Little League World Series. Edie had many hobbies. She loved to crochet, scrapbook, do crossword puzzles, shop for good deals, go to garage sales, research genealogy, give gifts to people, and she loved going to sporting events.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Lee Louviere of Sulphur; her three sons, Rodney Lucas (Keri) of Crowley, Todd Lucas (Kimberley) of Sulphur, and Cary Lucas of Cumming, GA; six grandchildren, Courtney Lucas, Britni Lucas, Ali Lucas, Emily L. Boulet (Ben), Matthew Lucas, and Kayla Lucas; four great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Elaine Stanley, Gwen Axtle, Patricia Lang, Harold Bridges, and Fred Bridges. Edie was preceded in death by her parents; her two siblings, Gayle Westfall and Lamar Bridges.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. and will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
