Edius was a Sulphur native and was a member of Houston River Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed building wooden lawn furniture, gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sons, Joe East, of Sulphur, and William East and his wife Sarah, of Vinton; stepdaughter, Becky Peterson and her husband Edwin, of DeQuincy; stepsons, Larry Johnson and his wife Rae, of Sulphur; and Randy Johnson and his wife Ginger, of Sulphur; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Lola Oaks East and Alice Johnson East; son Leonard Wayne East, 2 sisters and a brother.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 16, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8-10 a.m. Thursday, all in the funeral home.
